ABOUT HK & HK JR

Our goal is for Highlands Kids to be the best hour of your child's week! They will experience praise and worship, a creatively communicated Bible lesson, crafts, games, and more. We believe that church is fun and loving God is the greatest thing! Your child will catch the enthusiasm and have a great time. Most importantly our environments are Safe and Secure!

WHEN

The kids classes meet at the same time as our main services. So while you are enjoying the worship and teaching, your kids are experiencing God at their speed!

SAFE & FUN

Every leader and volunteer in our church has had a thorough background check. We also provide a secure check-in / check-out process. You can relax knowing your child is in good hands!

A Message from our HK Team!

At Highlands, you can take a breath & relax by knowing your kids are safe & secure while having fun, meeting new friends & discovering more about God’s Word every week!

We have incredible volunteers that work hard to create the atmosphere at Highlands Kids & Kids Jr. Each volunteer receives excellent training and goes through a thorough background check to ensure your child’s safety. They engage the kids to help them realize how much Jesus loves them & to make it “the best hour of your kids week!”

We offer age specific classes so kids can interact with other kids their own age and learn in a way that connects with them. In our Elementary class, we enjoy small groups to help kids make real & lasting friendships.

F.A.Q.'s

  • At the Highlands Kids desk, our team will have you fill out a short form about your child (or children). Then, they will give you a Security Tag with a paging number on it. You will also present this Security Tag following the service to pick up your child. No child will be released without the proper Security Tag.

  • You are welcome to peek in the window and check how your child is doing. But in order to be in a classroom, we require our volunteers to have a background check and interview with us. The safety of your child is of the utmost importance to us. We are careful to only allow approved volunteers with the children. We would welcome you as a volunteer, if you so desired!

  • Here are two great ways to stay connected to what your child is learning at Highlands Kids:

Follow us on INSTAGRAM! We post weekly conversation starters and Bible verses to help you and your child discuss the week’s Bible Lesson.

Look for our monthly and weekly emails. These emails will give you the details on the theme nights, family activities and all the info you need to know to help your child be involved in Highlands Kids.

  • Your child will have a blast! Every classroom is equipped with activities and toys designed for your child's age. They will experience praise and worship, a creatively communicated Bible lesson, crafts, games, and more! We believe that church is fun and loving God is the greatest thing! Your child will catch the enthusiasm and have a great time!

  • Many parents are involved with their children in Highlands Kids, and our team is always excited to welcome new members to our Dream Team who love Jesus and love pouring into the lives of their children. If you would like to become more involved, learn more about the steps to becoming a part of the Highlands Dream Team here.

HK (Kindergarten - 5th grade) May 2024 Series

Astronaut Neil Armstrong once said landing on the moon was “one small step for man.” The biggest adventures start in such a simple way — especially when it comes to space! Asteroids, distant planets, and brand new galaxies await us once we leave earth’s atmosphere. Being the first to explore such uncharted territory can be intimidating. In this four-week series, we’ll take a look at the Book of Acts to learn from the first Christians. Through their stories of faith and bravery, kids will learn how to take the first step of believing in Jesus, the next step of praying for others, and an even bigger step of trusting the Holy Spirit makes us brave. But they won’t want to skip the last step of telling others about Jesus.

  • May 5, 2024 - Take the first step — believe in Jesus. Acts 1:1–11; 1 John 5:1–6

  • May 12, 2024 - Take another step — pray for others. Acts 3; John 17:6–19

  • May 19, 2024 - Take a big step — the Holy Spirit makes us brave. Acts 6, 7:54–59; Acts 2:1–21

  • May 26, 2024 - Don’t skip this step — tell others about Jesus. Acts 8:26–40; Isaiah 6:1–8

MEMORY VERSE: "The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands." — Psalm 19:1 (NIV)

HKJR (6 Weeks - Pre-K) April 2024 Series

This month is all about introducing preschoolers to God – the One who loves them with a love that lasts forever. When it comes to preschoolers and what they know about God, there are a few faith skills we want to make sure they have in their little red wagon. We want every child to know that they can hear from God, pray to God, talk about God to others, and live for God. We hope they will pull these faith skills around, wherever they go, for the rest of their lives. Then they can go with confidence because they have the faith skills needed for whatever comes their way.

  • May 5, 2024 - King Josiah - 2 Chronicles 34

  • May 12, 2024 - Hannah - 1 Samuel 1-2

  • May 19, 2024 - Jeremiah - Jeremiah 31:3, 29:11
